First and Largest Academic Social Network of LIS Professionals in India
First of all congratulations to all the NET qualified candidates.
Well done.
If I am not wrong, 1027 candidates have been qualified for NET this time in Library and Information Science. Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi is in the top of the list with 103 candidates, University of Calcutta is 2nd in the list with 88 candidates and University of Pune is in 3rd rank with 57 candidates, and so on.
Following will be positive impacts:
1. There will be sufficient number of candidates for the posts (UGC) lying vacant in different organisations.
2. Candidates who have been in lower grade posts can jump to the higher level in the same institution or move to other institutions in higher posts.
3. Candidates who had been trying to qualify for NET, and passed this time they are now headache free.
4. Candidates have been nationally recognized for their potentialities.
Following will be Negative impacts:
1. For a single post there will be lots of competitors.
2. It could not be understood from the last NET, how efficiently the candidates could write the answers due to the new Objective type QPaper. Communication (spoken as well as written) skill is very important to become an Assistant Professor in any university or other posts of the same status.
3. Qualified candidates will have to check for the jobs in their places only. As lots of NET qualified local candidates will be there in their regions.
Best Wishes

I agree with you sir.
Although I am in gov. organisation, I still not get proper designation according my qualification(NET).
Dear Badan Sir,
I am totally agree from your opinion.
thanks Sir,
Mukut Sir & Badan Sir, i agree with your's points & u r right sir but pls suggest/motivate all lis new generation candidates what we do for job.
Mukut Sir, I agree with your point
"For a single post there will be lots of competitors"
but University/Colleges can conduct Personal interview and written exam to check whether NET qualified candidate is suitable for them. They can include other parameters to check commmunication skiils (spoken as well as written) of prospective candidates.
You all are right sir....
but what the LIS professionals to do...
plz sugest/Motivate us....
Now i think for one post Hundred(100) no. of candidates for interview
Dr Mukut's observation is correct. In the teaching profession communication skill, ability to analyze are important. The Teacher should influence students positively and motivate them. In Library Science the objective method is not suitable. Descriptive method is the correct way to evaluate a candidate. In Kerala job opportunities for NET qualified is very less. The benefit goes to Aided colleges as they will get lakhs for the librarian post. Now the NET exam became almost "all pass". Those who does not possess the subject knowledge can clear NET by darkening the bubble because there is no negative mark. The quality and standard of education is declining here. So UGC should review the NET exam pattern because GOOD TEACHERS ARE RARE NOW.
Hima G,
You are absolutely right, UGC must think about it and review the pattern.....
yes dear i m also agree with u i think old pattern of NET exam is right way for illegibility test
I agree with Dr. Mukut Sarmah & Dr. Badan Barman
at present very critical situation of Librarian
most of Non- grant colleges & Institutions keep vacant post of Librarian
grant able organisation do not get proper salary to Librarian
due to Non- NET/SET qualified
Institutes President, Chairman or Head person NET exam use as a shield
to protect from give full scale to Librarian
so sir if we are in Library & information science field we want to be a librarian
NET/SET Exam should be passed than we will get job, full salary on our skill, knowledge communication basis
in our Maharashtra librarians demand & supply ratio highly difference
librarians post demand high & supply means qualified candidate very less
Thanks & Regards
Digambar B Waghmare
