You prepare a library policy and signed by all staff and students of your institution.

Hello Dear,

First of all u shud explain what resources u have in ur library...& u hv lot of experiences in big library...U cn do so many things for ur user community.

yes very nice mam

I am not agree with Mr. Veeresh. We can create interest of users in library, atleast in academic library.

Madam if you really want to improve, do one thing, first of all establish a library committee and involve students in the committee, so that library would become a point of chatting among students. Second thing develop a collection Development policy and call recommendations from students as well. Third thing, send information of new arrivals on weekly / fortnightly / monthly basis and also develop a New arrival zone by displaying new arrivals on stands or racks. Fourth, Display library statistics on notice board on monthly basis. fifth, Decorate your library with flowers and other decorative items, especially the entrance. Start quiz competition based on library reading materials, and give some prizes like chocolates or pens (Cost of Rs. 10 or more depend on your budget) on daily or weekly basis. You should also try to understand the choice of your users.

Thus you can attract your users.

YES, VERY NICE SIR

Absolutely right...over all the thing is that you have to be creative,

thanks to all for ur valuable suggestions. most of the work like new arrivals , library decoration, collection development policy i hav already except library committee. kindly give ur valuable suggestions in future too.

Look at the policies of school libraries in US. Usually they encourage students to take books and read them at their convenience and note in a piece of paper attested by parents. You can choose a class every month for this type of competition. Such that each student will submit his reading time spent number of pages and titles read. Similarly involve students in shelving the books once a week/month, as their hobby.

May also use them for issue/return of books. If bold enough can have reading hour where you read a book for students with action etc. or can bring teachers from English etc to do that.

Dear Professional Colleagues,

Thanks for your intention to enrich the library services.

I am Fully agreed with the suggestions provided by  Prof./Dr./Mr. Ritesh Kumar Tiwari. In addition to his five points I would like to add the followings to complete the suggestion:

1) You may provide the best readers/library users award on the basis of the mximum days of library visited and maximum number of books issued and you can add some more criteira in based on your local need.

2) you can involved senior studens for shelving, guiding junior students and issue & return etc. keeping in view that you are the only person in the library.

may I seek kind opinion of Tiwari Ji?

hello! seema ji,

seema ji same problem lagbhag delhi govt ke sabhi school me hai, mere sath bhi yahi problem hai!

space kam, student jyada! librarian ke siway library se kisi ko koi matlab nahi ,library me koi aana nahi chahta!  kai boys school me aur bhi jyada bura haal hai!

 don't worry!

library ko store room se ideal library banane me time lagega!

so, prayas jaari rakhe! plz...do hard...hard....hardwork!

thanks
