Dear Sujan Bandhu:

Thanks for your mail. Regarding your M.Lib Sc Dissertation, all I can advise you that you should select a topic which (1) can be completed within a specific period of time (2) provides you some scope to analyze certain issue(s) of interest to many of the professionals so that you can publish at least two quality papers out of it in professional journals. I am specifically  stressed on Quality Papers as I have witnessed many trash papers being published and came across several Theses yielding no publications at all. Now-a-days Library professionals with high academic qualification like M.Phil and Ph.D are plenty. In any interview you will be facing, will be a scrutiny of your personal assets beyond others. If you have at least five good quality papers, I am sure you will surpass many of your fellow contestants.

Writing articles is a skill and warrants your understandings of the subject/issue. Start with publishing in Library Science journals and after settling down especially in a research Library, watch out for a few years and try publishing in professional journals of mainstream subjects of research of your institute.

I am confident that if a professional has at least five full articles in Indian journals like Current Science or Economic & Political Weekly, s/he will warrant respect not only from the co professionals but also from the research community.

So choose the topic which interests you and start working.

Good Luck!
