Background 

Twenty first century has moved the world into the era of information exchange and one of the important components in this changing scenario is the instant need of information. Although agriculture is directly linked with livelihood of human society, a proper timely communication and dissemination of agricultural information to farmers and also to personnel engaged in agricultural research and education is necessitated to keep pace with the world. In this regards, library and information centers are playing an important role by keeping important information for present and future need of society. Library and Information Centers are providing library and information services up to the entire satisfaction of the user community. In this critical juncture management of agricultural information in electronic form is the need of present time for which this conference is proposed to be organized at IGKV to explore the trends and possibilities in Agricultural Information Management in Digital Era.

Objectives

The principal objective of this Conference is to provide a platform for exchange of knowledge, ideas & learning experience to the Librarians, Information specialists, Scientists, Information providers & persons related to LIS in general and agricultural librarians in particular and identify best practices in agricultural information management in digital era.

About the University

The Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur was established on January 20, 1987 after bifurcating from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Jabalpur. The jurisdiction area of IGKV is the entire Chhattisgarh State situation in Eastern India consisting 27 districts belonging to three different Agro climatic Zones. The main mandate of the university is to cater the educational, research and extension needs of the farmers of Chhattisgarh state, a majority of them are tribal, scheduled caste and socio-economically backward communities.

Nehru Library, 

The Nehru Library is an important educational center of the university and working as Central Library with fourteen constituent colleges of university. The Nehru Library established in 1987. It has been recognized as Regional Library of Central India by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The Nehru Library of IGKV is well equipped with the latest communication media and information



technologies like web based information, CD Rom database search, OPAC, internet browsing as it is well connected through NKN. This library has become a HUB connected on LAN with all automated centralized facilities and acting as a nodal center for disseminating all kind of agricultural information to its users. The library is linked with various consortiums for online journals and theses repository and a partner of e-granth project. Nehru Library maintains around sixty thousand collections of books, reference book, reports, theses, monograph, back volumes, journals in physical and/ in electronic forms, CD ROM Database, e-resources etc. 

About AALDI

The Association of Agricultural Librarians and Documentalists of India was founded in 1971 with an aim to bring Agricultural Librarians of the Country on a platform to join hands to address matters of professional interests in improving library system and services towards the agricultural users community. The Association held its first General Body meeting at Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Viswa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur in June 1973 and decided to publish a periodical entitled AALDI Bulletin Annually to give vent to the intellectual thought of the Agricultural Library Professionals. The efforts of the Association bore fruit in 1974 when the first volume of the periodical saw the light. To keep pace with the changing scenario and concept of librarianship, the title of the periodical was changed to Indian Journal of Agricultural Library and Information Services in 2008. The Association has organized many National Conferences consecutively from 2009, ICAR, IASRI, IARI Delhi, Dr. YS Parmar University of Hort. & Forestry, Solan and OUAT, Bhubaneswar.

Call for papers
Original papers focusing on the theme of the conference are invited for presentation as oral/poster. Paper should be based on the original findings of research, case studies, etc. The papers, not exceeding 3000 words with an abstract of 300 words in MS Word format with 12 font size in A4 size single space, may be submitted to the Organizing Secretary by email or post.

Climate
The state of Chhattisgarh experiences a maximum temperature of 30° Celsius and a minimum temperature as low as 15° Celsius during the February. The climate of Raipur will be pleasant during February. 

Accommodation
The host university has limited accommodation in guest houses. The accommodation in the guest houses will be arranged only for the registered participation on first- come first basis. Good hotel accommodation is also available in Raipur with tariff ranges from Rs. 1000- Rs. 3000.
