I am really honored by your comments.I do not know whether or not I deserve it.Please call me just-sabuj . May I call you -Kaushikda, of course if you permit me for so? I would remain student till the the end of my life. I hate to become sir. I feel that is the full stop of learning.Really a new begining has been started in WB. After resigning from WBCS from Paschim Medinipore to protest against the tyranny of one political party, I have joined as college librarian (after 8 months of my resign) through College Service Commission having the same qualifiaction, but we are treated as lesser human being. I have been protesting since my joining in 2006 through my application to the govt regarding disparity and gross anomaly. But govt has never responded me not even the negative. I always demanded that 3 things I wrote. I have seen, though it is very unfortunate, so-called teachers in this field are the greatest impediments to fulfill our demands. Most of the places librarians fate is determined by the LIS teachers in the colleges/universities. Most of the important committee members are LIS teachers and they never took any decision in favor of the librarians because of their insecurity. There is no leave rules/service rules for the librarians till today. We are at the mercy of the authority and thus they treat us like anything.Previous govt has done nothing for librarians and we are hoping theat there will be something positive in this govt. I will be very happy to meet you. India needs bright, dynamic and very progressive librarian like you. I will surely let you know about the LIS happenings in WB. And you please do enlighten us by your vast experience and knowledge.
Dear Kaushikda,
Many many thanks for your mail and accepting 'kaushikda'. For the development of Higher Education in WB , a 10 member team has been formed and they will submit their report by september 2011. Untill then all recruitments in college/universities have been postponed. Even recently VC recruitment of Rabindrabharati University has also stopped on this ground. Separately another 10 member Mentor Group has been formed(at present they are 8 as other 2 will give consent very soon) including Prof. Amartya Sen, Prof. Sugata Basu (Harvard Prof.), National Library Director, and other emeritus Presidency College Alumni across the globe. They will submit their report on August 2011 and they will mentor Newly formed Presidency University as International University where regularly Nobel laureates will teach. Right now it's all in nut shell in kolkata in higher education scenario.I will surely keep you informed from time to time about the latest happenings here.
Best wishes.
