After Major and Minor research project this is another move from UGC. Its the high time to think for the profession otherwise we should be ready for next worst move.

The UGC  wants to degrade the status college librarians. College Librarians who have already NET qualified and Ph D degree holder what they will get ?  Is UGC wants to divide the category of Librarians ? In USA some librarians are getting Academic status some are getting clerical status. Is UGC is walking in the same path way.  I think the UGC is not considering the concept of STATURE

This is really not good news. we should put together and do something to save academic status of Librarian.What is wrong with the UGC? Who is representing Library issues and make policy, I think through association try to contact and convince them directly to save our profession.

      Is UGC  wants to degrade the status College/University  librarians ?  I think, it is a preparation of  for fixing the Pay structure for College/University  Librarians  for the next PAY COMMISSION. But those  College Librarians, who have already NET qualified and Ph D degree holder what they will get ?  Is UGC wants to divide the category of Librarians ? In USA some librarians are getting Academic status;some are getting clerical status. Is the UGC wants to walk  in the same  path way?  I think, the UGC is not considering the main  idea  of  the INFORMATION ACT 2005. Prof. SAM Pitroda said  in this Era of Information the LIS services  should be a  cadre service.   Unfortunately, the decision of UGC regrading librarians' status completely different than that of  the idea of SAM PITRODA.  But it is true ,  that there are some librarians who have right attitude and ability to hold their professionalism. They will grab their the position among all odds. Still, being the highest authority  of Indian general Academia the  UGC has to be reasonable enough in the context of all Personnel's motivation and self-actualisation need .  It is a matter of regret, the UGC's attitude is not at all  commendable  in this regard. The UGC  should think about those Librarians who have qualified at NET exams and completed their Ph D degree. At least those librarians should be properly honourd, otherwise, the then UGC's recommendation (during the  ixth and Xth Plan  period) will be  meaningless. We do not know whether  there is  any motive  of jealousy that is  working behind the decision of UGC during XII the Plan period .  In viewing this , Librarians want to quote the famous poem of Tagore

"ALPO LOIYA THAKI TAI  

MORE JAHA JAI TAHA JAI"

The concern ACEDEMICIANS,  who are responsible to frame the UGC's scheme have followed  Tagore's idea in a different way..

Dear Sir,

I think nothing is wrong thing with UGC. I have seen notification of UGC NET Dec 2013 but there is not mentioned that the ugc net is not essential for Asst librarian, Notification cover the scale of Asst.Professor and Asst.Librarian is appointed on Asst.Professor scale. UGC will not announced separated ugc notification for Asst.Librarian/College Lirbarian. I m Shoked that every one not justified the authenticity of information.

I request to all profession while u are given ur comments on any post firstly read carefully and give ur kind comments.

Dear sir,

I hope and wish that you come as true in this case. But the suspect arise due to some recent decision of UGC such as debarring library professionals from getting major and minor projects and travel grant.

Dear Ravi, the word "only" in the notification is really shocking.

The University Grants Commission announces holding of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on 29th December 2013 (SUNDAY) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges. UGC will conduct NET in 79 subjects including Santali new subject (listed under item no. 9) at 84 (Eighty Four, including five new centres) selected NET Coordinating Institutions (listed under Item no. 10) spread across the country.

yes sir u are right ,all members should understand that ugc give main heading is "Exemption for Asst.Professor " u should clear understand that exemption for whom P.hd holders Net is exemption for them.try to understand this point .
