Librarians Under "Administrative Staff" Category in Kerala Government

From reliable sources it came to know that a Government order would soon be issued by Kerala Government categorizing librarians under "administrative staff" category. A committee was constituted last year by Kerala State Higher Education council to look into the matter of grievances of non-teaching staff in aided colleges, government colleges and Universities in Kerala. The report submitted by that committee categorized librarians under "administrative staff" (see the attachment).

Two weeks back, there was a discussion with Government officials and various service organisations on the matter of implementation of the said report. None from library Profession were invited or attended that meeting. There should be positive move from library associations and senior professionals immediately before such an order issues from Governmental part. The saddening thing is that there is no single or common platform of librarians for raising voices against such injustices.

Kindly take the responsibility on your shoulder. Let me know if I can do something in this regard.

trying to get a full picture... a representation is ready for submission to authorities..

is it is applicable to engineering colleges also?

kindly attach the document mentioning the engineering college staff pattern

yup...working on it...

in kerala all Library professionals are scattered ........just like grade 1 garde 2 grade 3 grade 4.....ugc scale, common pool etc.....first we should have unity as professionals then only we can move forward.....

unity?? how? i talked to many regarding it.all have vested interests...

anyway,thanks for your positive reply

What is the purpose of KLA??? what they are doing for the profession???

did you mean kerala library association?? they are supposed to organize conferences and seminars.do attend KLA seminars.you will get duty leave for attending..

Jasimudeen,

KLA peoples are playing transference of position.

they are supposed to organize conferences and seminars.do attend KLA seminars.you will get duty leave for attending and also if u r a member then u get a discount for attending the seminar ( suppose the fee is Rs.1250 then u can attend the seminar for Rs.750 and get a bag, pen, and some white papers, food, tea) "its a association  to develop academic excellence or to solve the problems of library professionals ?"

the bags i got during the yester years' conferences are still in good condition, but the pen stopped working.

This is a time to show professional commitment. Some persons those who have strong voice are safe with their present positions, they will talk in conference about the theories but never use their political/social power to save library profession.

I request you to do something, In kerala we have good number of Library science department. The academicians, professionals need to take the issue.

Regards

Baiju Joy
