Central Government should make a common policy for proper implementation of Library Legislation in every state

The major role of library legislation enables the formation of a public library system to provide library services to various groups in different parts of our nation, with a well organized internal structure.  At present, 18 Indian states have been passed Library Legislation in their states. In these states the conditions of public Libraries are as usual as earlier. There is no change in the strategy of Government towards the Public Libraries. This bill is also similar to other bills, passed and put into the Red Tapism. The Library Science trend professionals are not getting the employment and the chain of Libraries (State, District, Taluka,  and Village) could not be developed till now. So please share your views that, are the people of India getting the benefit of the Library Legislation? Unfortunately, at present time Govt. of the states are looking failures to follow the rules. My views for that central govt. make common policy for proper implementation of library legislation of every states, for that public can get benefit.

To pursue this policy the role of Library Associations are very important and necessary.

Yes, Dr. Pachauri..merely passing Library Legislation in remaining staes won't suffice the purpose. The Union Govt. and Library Associations should come up with a firm agenda in order to develop public library system and enrich the existing ones. I think we need a second Anna Hazare in the field of library science too who could come up against the prevailing situation of public library situation and unite the people od nation in this interest.
very good Handa ji
Thank for your valuable comments

Sir jee these words are coming form your heart and the LIS professionals are in need of a revolution in the field. All the LIS associations are not working properly and the meetings of these bodies are only for TEA and SAMOSAS. Take a full lunch, dinner and forgot the Library Science.

Handa ji why is ILA sleeping?
Keep no expectation from ILA either. It,s been 2 years since it published last issue of ILA Bulletin and no new issue has been brought up after that despite it has got new members elected as board of govs. I,m waiting for my article to be published which I submitted last year in April. Even top members of ILA have no idea when it shall be published. So what to expect from it regarding public library legislation....?????
is there need of another libraray association? only youth can solve the problem

Recently ILA published it latest issue i.e. ILA Bulletin, Jan-June, 2010, Kindly check it with ILA website.

thanks

To publish  the issue in form of paper not raise the issues at National level is the symbol of any working association?
Yes its a fact that all the LIS associations are not working properly and the meetings of these bodies are only for TEA, SAMOSAS  or take lunch. They forgot the Library Science Issues. If situation should not change within few year this field will be the history not in the field of public library in the academic library situation are very difficult. Revolution is necessary in this field so i request the young professional to come ahead and try to improve the situation. Best of luck. I am every time ready to do for the improvement in this field.
thanks for your support I need such type of persons like you

ILA role is nothing in the field of library science, legislation passed in 18 states but some states are implementation in properly. Haryana state is also backward in implementation of legislation. Need a revolution against government about the importance of libraries. ILA is the Backward Association in the world.
