It is our pleasure to invite you to contribute a book chapter for an edited book entitled “Research and Publication Ethics”, which will be published by National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJA, Assam) holding ISBN. There is no publication fee.

National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam was established by the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Act No. XXV of 2009) as the fourteenth National Law University of the country in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam. Concept Note
University Grants Commission in its 543rd meeting held on 9th August 2019 approved two-Credit Course for awareness about publication ethics and publication misconducts entitled “ Research and Publication Ethics (RPE)”to be made compulsory for all Ph.D. students for pre-registration coursework (vide letter no. D.O.No.F.1-1/2018(Journal/CARE) dated December, 2019). Therefore, the book aims to achieve the objectives of University Grants Commission and intends to provide the concepts of Research and Publication Ethics in a more comprehensive way. It is expected to gain more insights on the Academic integrity in the realm of new technological influxes. In a nutshell the book will be a concise reference book for Ph.D. students and other researchers for the responsible conduct of research.

1. Philosophy and Ethics:Introduction to philosophy, nature, scope, concept, branches
2. Ethics: definition, moral philosophy, nature of moral judgements and reactions
3. Intellectual honesty and research integrity
4. Publication ethics: definition, introduction and importance, best practices/standards sittings initiatives and guidelines

5. COPE, WAME etc.
6. UGC Guidelines on Plagiarism and self-plagiarism, Redundant Publications
7. Publication misconduct: definition, concept, problems that lead to unethical behavior and vice versa, types, violation of publication ethics, authorship and contributor-ship, examples and fraud from India and abroadidentification of publication misconduct, complaints and appeals, predatory publishers and journals, Subject specific ethical issues, Falsification, Fabrication and Plagiarism (FFP)
8. Use of plagiarism software like Turnitin, Ouriginal (Urkund) and other open source software tools, Google originality check, Reference Management Tools
9. Open access publications and initiatives
10. SHERPA/RoMEO online resource to check publisher copyright and self-archiving policies
11. Software tool to identify predatory publications developed by SPPU
12. Journal finder/journal suggestion tools viz. JANE, Elsevier Journal Finder, Springer Journal Suggester, etc. Copyleft, Creative Commons Licenses, Public Domain and Open Educational Resources.
13. Citation databases: Web of Science, Scopus etc.

Submission Guidelines for Abstract
Abstract should have introduction, concept and conclusion and within 250 words
Submission Guidelines for Full Paper
1. Authors: Co-authorship allowed for a maximum of two (2).
2. Word Limit: 5000-6000 words. 3. Format: Font: Times New Roman, font size: 12, Line Spacing: 1.15, margins 1″each side
4. Front page: Title of the Chapter: font 12, all caps, bold; Name of author(s): Italic, Designation, Institution of the author(s), Email, Contact no.
5. All submissions are subject to Plagiarism check.
6. Submission Format: File will be accepted only in doc/docx/rtf formats.
7. The softcopy may be submitted to rpebook@nluassam.ac.in
8. References should be in APA Citation Style
